Zoe Stafford School of Dance

In November 2012 I was thrilled to open my very own dance school. I found a pretty church hall in Cotton End - the perfect venue for a small start-up school - and gradually started to build up classes. Within a year I'd grown the school to four days a week, offering lessons to children from the age of 3 all the way through to adults; in ballet, tap and modern dance.

I have been a BATD qualified teacher since 2007 and have had the pleasure of teaching a huge range of ages and abilities all over the country. We conduct exams with the British Association of Teachers of Dancing exam board and in each set of exams all students have passed, some with exceptional grades. It's a huge source of pride to see the success of my dancers, and I was thrilled to find the environment I had created fostered the discipline, hard work, and commitment required to achieve such great results.

As well as examinations I aim to offer my students as many performance opportunities as I can and we work towards a full school show biennially. I'm always conscious of making my classes enjoyable, and it's a dream to be doing something that makes people so happy. I feel passionately that dancing should be accessible to everyone and that anyone should have the opportunity to feel how wonderful it is to dance.

Students are grouped first by age and then ability. If you or your dancer has danced previously we will do our best to fit them into the appropriate group for their level.

In this 45 minute class for 3-5 year olds we do ballet, tap and modern as well as some singing, rhymes and mime. A lovely introduction into the world of dance.

The foundation of all dance styles, this classic style works for grace, strength and story telling. But it's not just for girls and we've been known to ballet to a Beyonce song or two.

Fancy putting on those tap shoes and making some rhythmical noise? Tap dancing is excellent for cardio, musicality and getting the brain working. Make your own beat.

Modern dance uses the strength and some technique of ballet added to a strong sense of rhythm and use of space. Using the body in a way that is different to ballet while both styles being beneficial to the other.

Ballet students are invited to attend the pre-pointe class when their technique and strength is at a sufficient level. This class is designed to prepare students for pointe work.

The magical world of dancing en pointe. Students are only invited to work en pointe when I feel they are physically and emotionally ready. These students work within the pre-pointe class.

Adult Ballet

This class focuses a lot on the technique and strength involved in ballet so is an excellent class to do to help improve fitness and tone. Whether you danced as a youngster, want to carry on dancing as an adult or are a total beginner, everyone is welcome!
